First Impressions: Usable

Connectivity: Finicky, will increase stars if connectivity becomes reliable/predictable. Looks: Pretty neat. Works fine and looks nice inside house. Will report when setup outside. App Functionality: Rudimentary. Good enough, but not going to win any design awards. A few immediate suggestions for developers: - make connectivity reliable and predictable; right now, it can be between immediate and never to connect to the working bulb - give us a QR code to find the app, dont make us search (we might find your competitors instead) - Sparkle should be renamed Seizure - Twinkle should be renamed Slow Seizure (these are more accurate descriptions)

Connectivity issues

There are to many hit and miss connectivity issues. Please fix. You have a great product here, dont let fixable software issues spoil it!

Pretty awful

Terrible app. Little to no support. Connectivity is nonexistent. The app can barely connect to the devices available. Dont bother buying these lights, and if you did, return them. Brutal.

Update

After fighting with these lights (3 spotlights and 2 icicle strands) for three days now, they are going back to the store. Have tried everything possible and its been nothing but disappointment. Save your money, save your time and look at different options.

There alright in my book. Not what Id expected.

My first thought was how absolutely amazing this is to control your lights on your phone or tablet. Now Ive seen this and tryed this product but Im disappointed with what Ive found out that it doesnt come with 140 effects that the manufacturing industry promised. And Ive thought I could have a color well and such and speed wheel like the lumen play Id thought App lights was going to be just like that. Ive just spent almost 300 dollars for this to become a huge disappointment. Im going to return them. And get my money back. I agree with all the other reviewers save your money and your time and do your research before you buy. Witch I didnt. Now I know. Im looking into other products.

Too dim! Brutal effect

I would have loved to give a positive review but they are so dim the light travels for 3 inches and falls into nothingness. The concept is great but it is so dull you cant tell you have lights on! Maybe if they were more directional? The App worked fine with it just not enough illumination Im afraid.....getting returned. Back to the drawing board folks.

Do Not Buy

Connectivity was horrible. Exercise in frustration. I am bringing this obviously reoccurring problem up to Home Depot.

Not worth the frustration

Having lots of sync problems with the kaleidoscope light and my phone. It synced once and now lost connectivity. Tried the unplugging and stopping app. Started all over still nothing. Maybe by next Christmas they will have made improvements. Not worth the $70.00!!!!

Working great (now)

At first, plugged in the Kaleidoscope and it turned green. Tried connecting and although Bluetooth said it was connected, the app was all greyed out. Tried everything to configure it. Finally got frustrated and called customer service. They walked me through the app and said that I needed to go up to the top of the app and slide my finger over to the right see my product. Im an app developer and would NEVER in a million years have figured that out (as there is nothing in the reference guide about that and no arrow or indicator letting the user know there is more to view). All they need is a simple arrow in the top bar to indicate there is more to the app. Once I got that resolved, it works great! Simple usability fix and I would have rated it 5 stars. I ALMOST rated it one star and returned it to the store (had it not been for picking up the phone and calling). Great product! Fix the app. :) One more thing: Customer Service was very prompt and had me off and running in under 2 minutes. Kudos.

No Timer??

Its ok. Lacking some pretty seemingly basic things, like a timer, or a passcode. My neighbour also has one, and the app connects to both, and you dont know which one is yours.

Great idea needs improvement.

Its a great concept and if the lights were brighter and you could actually set a timer to have them turn on and off during day/night it would be great.

Working great

Bought 3 strands. App picked them up. Brightness hasnt been an issue. The kids now think we have the coolest lights in the neighborhood. They even go outside and play with the app. Timer would be nice but as with all apps, I am sure new things will be added to make them even better.

Buyer beware

DO NOT BUY these lights! A great idea defeated by crazy issues with disgraceful and frustrating connectivity issues . Wait til its fixed or the company fails. Expensive and anyones bet if it will work at any point.

Works for me easily

Bought one string and connected and controlled them easily. Lights are plenty bright. Would buy more.

Great Concept

Really love mine the o my issue is if you have neighbors with them which I do you end up controlling theirs as well and vice versa

Great lights

Will there ever be an update that will allow users to create their own flash and color patterns?

Buggy ui makes things hard

With the buggy UI its impossible to set password protection on these lights in order to prevent unauthorized usage. Please fix.

Stopped Working

This was an expensive but interesting outdoor light set until the app stopped working. Lights are on but cannot be changed. All I get is a screen telling me to turn my Bluetooth on! Yet the iPhone Bluetooth is enabled and it says the light set is connected.

Its nice how there are all these different settings and styles that you can choose from. No more looking for that old box of green lights for ST Patricks day. Now you can just leave these lights up all around and change them to fit the holiday with the tap of a button.

No Custom Abilities and the Christmas Options are not very good

The app lights are a great idea, but it would be much better if the user could have more control of the lights such as setting the light color for each bulb, up to 8 in a row and then selecting effects. If the app controls the light in each socket, then this should be possible. For example, if I wanted to go green (1), red (2), white (3)... Every 3 bulbs would be green-red-white. Since there are 24 bulbs in a strand, you could have divisors of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 for custom control of the color sequence. The Christmas color options are not very good. Since the LEDs are multi color, we should be able to choose our own colors too. The same goes for the spotlights too. We need more control of each individual light. I want to know if these options will be available on my existing lights in the future, otherwise I will return all 7 sets. I think they are too expensive unless these options will be available on the current sets in the future.
